ArtsLAB on Wheels

Aboard the ArtsLAB, Students create media focused on California State Standards for Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Science. In this video, first graders at Laguna Road School created a presentation on fire safety.

In the Arts Learning Activities Bus (Arts LAB) program, we have taken two surplus school buses and transformed them into mobile digital arts studios. Each bus is equipped with camcorders, sound equipment, and laptop computers, and skilled artist/educators travel with the Arts LAB to every kindergarten through sixth grade school in the District. The artist/educators guide students through the moviemaking process as children create their own short digital films based on what they are learning in their classrooms.

This award-winning program was initiated in 2003 and has been extensively funded by such diverse sources as the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation, the Sunrise Rotary Club of Fullerton and the R.C Baker Foundation. The Arts LAB program was the only District -wide Visual and Performing Arts Program in California to receive a Golden Bell Award in 2007, and has met with overwhelming success and enthusiasm from students, their parents, classroom teachers and the community.
