Is Your Bad Attitude Hurting Your Career Hunt?
By Martinez Betheliza
Are you in a place where you want a new job and are you
ready to make sure that your next job is going to be the
one that you keep? The truth of the matter is that getting
the right career and making it work is something that people
are very interested in at this point. When you are in a
place where you are involved in a Job Search, you know
that you want it to end.
You know that you are doing everything that you can to
get the right job, but the thing that you need to remember
is that there are a number of ways that people are going
to evaluate you. Your Job Hunt could be a lot longer if
you don't think about your attitude and how things might
play out.
In the first place, don't think that your attitude is
something that you can switch on and off. Your attitude
essentially pervades the way that you interact with the
world and you will find that it can be hard to keep up
a good one when you are on the Job Search!
After all, you are tired, you are likely very stressed
out and you are tired of people asking you how the Job
Hunt is going. There is a good chance that your attitude
has taken a beating and you might be depressive, scared,
angry, or irritated. These are natural things to feel,
but you will find that the more you let frustration into
your life, the worst your chances for good positions are
going to be!
The thing that you need to remember is that the people
are interviewing you are only going to have a very small
amount of data to work with. They are going to assume that
the person that they see at the interview is going to be
the one that they are working with. They might accept the
idea that you are not so negative in your day to day life,
but they do not know that for sure. Someone with a good
attitude is going to get much better results than someone
with a bad attitude and they are going to be looking for
that. They also want someone who will come up swinging
and positive when things go badly, so take some time to
think about how you can show them this side of you!
Remember that being a team player and avoiding the use
of negative sentences can help a lot. For instance, you
will find that instead of saying things like "I don't" or "I
am not," say things like, "I do," or "I
am." Things like this work on what can be considered
practically a subconscious level and the more you are able
to look into using them, the better your results are going
to be. If you want to make sure that people are going to
see you as you are and that they get the right impression
from your work, make sure that you show them how positive
you are and how well you are going to fit in to their team.
